Meet the Artist

Art has always been a part of my life. My older sister inspired me with her talent, and my elementary school art teacher in New York constantly encouraged my parents to support my abilities.

I took art classes in high school and majored in Art in college. I got my BA from Sac State and also my teaching credential for Art there.

I first taught art at a Jr. High School for 9 years. I then went to Deer Valley High School where I taught painting, drawing, and design for 9 years. From there, I went to Heritage High School where I taught a variety of art classes for the final 13 years of my career. I retired from teaching in June of 2019... just before COVID hit. I set up my home studio during lockdown and started working in one of my favorite mediums: oil paints. I also work in watercolors, colored pencil, and acrylics.

I have been influenced by many artists. Salvador Dali and Georgia O'Keeffe are my earliest loves, but I also love Wayne Thiebaud's work, along with Edvard Munch, and many others.

What attracts me to create, are images from unusual points of view that draw the viewer into them. Pathways, stairways, tunnels, or a closeup of an animal's eye, dewdrops on a petal... things that most people pass by without noticing. I hope to help others see the amazing beauty all around us the way I see it.
