Born in the Bay Area of California, Mary Young attended schools in Pleasanton and graduated with a degree in Art from San Jose State University. After graduation, she spent the next decade free-lancing in the graphic design field deriving tremendous enjoyment from creating ads, brochures and company identities.
Like many people, the next years were spent raising a family and working full time. Upon retirement, Mary returned to her original calling of illustration and fine art. Inspiration is derived from looking to her past – particularly vintage photographic images and recreating them. Nature is also a big inspiration; currently living in Discovery Bay near the water, there is an abundance of fish, bird and wildlife to stoke her creative juices. Mary enjoys producing art with ink, graphite, colored pencils, watercolor and acrylics.
