I am inspired by my love of the Ocean, Tropical influences, beautiful beaches and of course the Beads themselves. I love to use natural shells, pearls, Swarovski Crystals, and Czech glass as some of the elements in my pieces. I rely on other artists for many of my large focal and accent beads. My Jewelry pieces are original designs, one of a kind and generally have no set plan or pattern when I start out.
Bead Embroidery, Bead Weaving, Kumihimo (Japanese form of braiding), Micro Macramé, Hand Knotting and Bead Stringing are some of the techniques that I use.

My name is Kathy Emerick and owner of “Toes in da Sand” Beadery and Embellishments. A true California native, born in San Francisco, growing up in Walnut Creek and currently residing in Antioch, I have always been creative and one of my personal joys is creating wearable art. I have a degree in Art/Textile Design from San Diego State. Retirement after a 34-year career in my "Grown Up" Job now allows me to pursue my passion for beadwork.
